We have a wonderful location to enjoy your evening meal and want to offer guests an opportunity to sample our great southern bounty, foods sourced with the season, grown and harvested by local suppliers.  Kaimata Retreat's seasonal chef presents flair and passion for quintessentially New Zealand cooking with a wild and indigenous emphasis.

Summer 2011/12 warmly welcomes chef and host Scott Bickley. Trained in the restaurants of south east Queenslands sunshine coast, Australia, Scott 'has been back home, the mainland 'south island' since 2007. He has a passion for New Zealand back country, the great outdoors and the flvours of wild foods.

"We're very lucky in New Zealand to have some of the best quality wild foods available from our mountains, lakes, oceans and rivers. My passion in cooking really lays on these food types and being able to serve it to our guests at Kaimata Retreat is a pleasure"

"This was a pristine environment where humans were minor players and where the wild animals were totally in control. We were simply viewers with a great respect for the true inhabitants of this lonely and wild beach."
